Couch delivery without the doorway surprises

A couch move succeeds or fails on access, not only vehicle space. Measure the couch, doors, lifts and stair turns before collection, then book a vehicle that keeps the item protected for the full route.

QikTruck recommendation

Use a mini van or 1 ton bakkie only when the couch dimensions and weather allow it. Choose a closed truck for pale upholstery, rain exposure, long-distance travel or multiple furniture pieces.

Measure the full path, not just the couch

Record the couch length, depth and height at its widest fixed points. Then measure the collection and delivery doors, passages, lift opening and the tightest stair landing. A couch that fits inside the truck can still be impossible to turn through a narrow hallway.

Ask the seller whether feet, arms or sectional clips can be removed. Photograph the couch before collection and tell the driver about stairs, security-gate restrictions or loading-bay time limits in the booking notes.

Frequently asked questions

Can one person move a couch?

Usually not safely. Large, sleeper and sectional couches often need a second helper, especially where there are stairs or long carries. Add helpers when booking rather than relying on someone being available at the address.

Will a couch fit in a bakkie?

Some compact couches fit a 1 ton bakkie, but the decision depends on exact dimensions and whether the load can be protected and secured. A closed truck is the safer choice in poor weather or on longer routes.

Can QikTruck collect a couch bought online?

Yes. Provide the seller's collection details, your delivery address, the couch dimensions and any collection time window. Make sure the seller has released the item for collection.

Should a couch be transported standing up?

Only when its construction, height and securement allow it. Do not assume every couch can stand on an arm or end; protect pressure points and follow the manufacturer's handling guidance where available.
