Generator transport based on real mass and dimensions

Generators can be compact but extremely heavy. Confirm the unit's dry and operating weight, lifting points, fuel state and loading equipment before selecting a vehicle.

QikTruck recommendation

Use the manufacturer's data plate or technical sheet for mass. Never select a bakkie from appearance alone, and arrange mechanical lifting for units that cannot be safely handled by the booked team.

Prepare fuel, battery and loose components

Switch the generator off, let it cool and follow the manufacturer's transport instructions. Prevent fuel, oil and coolant leaks; close approved valves, isolate the starter battery where instructed and secure loose leads, covers and accessories.

Tell QikTruck what fuel remains and whether the unit is clean and leak-free. Dangerous or leaking goods require different controls and may not be suitable for an ordinary booking.

Frequently asked questions

Can a generator go on a bakkie?

Only if its verified mass, footprint and securement needs are within the vehicle's limits. Many industrial generators are much heavier than they look and require a truck.

Must the fuel tank be empty?

Follow the manufacturer's transport instructions and disclose the fuel type and amount. The unit must not leak, and fuel transport may require controls beyond a standard booking.

Can the driver lift the generator?

Do not rely on manual lifting for heavy equipment. Arrange a forklift, crane, suitable ramps or extra handling resources before dispatch.

Can QikTruck transport a generator to an event or site?

Yes, subject to safe access, accurate weight and an agreed loading plan. Include time windows, surface conditions and the return collection if required.
